Products & services

For more than 50 years, DuPont has been producing a series of innovative materials in Luxembourg. Manufacturing started in 1962 with the production of Mylar^® films, followed by Typar^® nonwoven manufacturing in 1974, Hytrel^® thermoplastics manufacturing in 1984 and the first production line for Tyvek^® nonwoven material in 1987.

In addition to the manufacturing facilities, DuPont Luxembourg comprises a European business hub for DuPont nonwovens.

As part of DuPont’s global network manufacturing, engineering and innovation facilities, the site in Luxembourg is providing material solutions to its customers in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific region.

Major Materials & Manufacturing projects

DuPont™ Tyvek^® is a nonwoven material made of 100% HDPE enabling new dimensions of protection, security and safety in a wide variety of industries and applications, ranging from worker protection and medical packaging to home insulation and graphic applications. Air Cargo Covers protect pharmaceuticals and perishables from thermal radiation and allows for rapid cooling of the load when placed in chilled storage.

DuPont™ Typar^® is used in civil engineering and construction challenges such as rail, road and landing strip construction, drainage and erosion control. DuPont™ Plantex^® Landscape Solutions offer a complete range of smart products for landscaping.

DuPont™ Hytrel^® is a thermoplastic elastomer combining the flexibility of rubber with the strength and processability of thermoplastics. Hytrel^® parts can flex in multiple directions, cycle after cycle, long after rubber would break. Hytrel^® RS offers the same performance while containing up to 60% of renewably sourced material.

Technical / technological capabilities

Made of non-woven spunbonded high density polyethylene fibers, DuPont™ Tyvek^® is the answer for weatherization, personal protective apparel, medical or other packaging and protection of pharmaceuticals and perishables. Designers of lighting, fashion accessories and apparel increasingly demand Tyvek^® for their products because of its lightweight, durability and texture.

DuPont™ Typar^® geotextiles are made of thermally bonded continuous polypropylene filaments. DuPont’s patented production technique is one of the main reasons for the unique properties of Typar® compared to other geotextiles. Watch this video to check out the characteristics.

DuPont™ Hytrel^® facilitates the design and economical manufacture of a variety of parts and products by combining many of the best features of both high-performance elastomers and flexible plastic materials. Hytrel^® has proven its performance in a wide variety of applications in automotive, electrical/electronic, industrial and consumer products.
