Doctena helps patients book medical appointments online, and practitioners to increase their efficiency. The Doctena patient platform shows an aggregated view of doctor calendars from which patients can pick appointments and request a booking confirmation online. The Doctena cloud calendar for practitioners allows them to “open up” their calendar and accept bookings from various external sources: patients who book online, patients referred to them by other practitioners, call-centers who manage the practitioner’s hotline, etc.Doctena makes the best use of the newest online and mobile technologies that can be implemented in medical practices. Availabilities are easily made public and filled by new patients. Patients get faster access to healthcare. Both parties benefit instantly from the implementation of the Doctena tools.

Helping patients get access to healthcare is the focus of Doctena. Adding transparency to the medical schedules is a major innovation for both patients, referring doctors and medical teams.
Current booking processes mostly rely on telephone operators picking slots whilst many sectors have already switched to online booking to boost efficiency.
Seamless integration into the existing practitioner’s environment is key to being able to answer the increasing demand of patients for online agendas.
Technical / technological capabilities
Technology has not made practitioners’ appointments system more efficient, as multiple types of software are being used and very few of those communicate with each other. Doctena focuses on creating links between those systems, bringing the content online and making it portable.Being from Luxembourg, Doctena is particularly aware of the language issue and has developed the first platform for medical appointments with focus on multi-lingual environments. Doctena also strictly applies a “patient first” approach – if it is meaningful to the patient, it will benefit from quick and broad adoption, and it will eventually also benefit the practitioners.
Every month, more than 1,5 million medical appointments are booked on our platforms, at a growth rate of +100% every 4 to 5 months. This demonstrates our capability to build global, secure, and scalable e-Health systems.
Main customers / collaborations
Doctena currently serves over 10 thousand medical professionals in 6 European countries, from individual independent doctors, to hospitals with hundreds of doctors and services.
